HUBUNGAN ANTARA KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL DAN KECERDASAN SPIRITUAL DENGAN KARAKTER PESERTA DIDIK MADRASAH TSANAWIYAH PESANTREN PEMBANGUNAN MAJENANG

Abstract

Recent developments in educational theories indicate that the intelligence quotient (IQ), emotional intelligence (EQ) and spiritual intelligence (SQ) should be developed in a balanced manner in order to form learners with character and personality. Based on this background, the research problems are formulated as follows: (1) how the relationship between emotional intelligence and character of students in MTs Pesantren Pembangunan Majenang? (2) how the relationship between spiritual intelligence to the character of the students in MTs Pesantren Pembangunan Majenang?; (3) how the relationship between emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence together with the character of the students MTs Pesantren Pembangunan Majenang? The research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive-correlational method, which is a descriptive study that aims to determine the relationship between variables. Data were collected by questionnaires, observation sheets, and documentation study. Data analysis used simple correlation and multiple correlation. The results of this study can be concluded: (1) Between emotional intelligence (EQ) and the character of learners have a very strong relationship, where the better the emotional intelligence (EQ) of students, the better the character of them. This is evidenced by the statistical test in which the correlation between variables emotional intelligence (EQ) with a character variable learners figures obtained correlation coefficient of 0.72 (very strong correlation). (2) The study also showed a strong and significant correlation between spiritual intelligence (SQ) with the character of the students. With this result, the better the spiritual intelligence (SQ) learners, the better the character of them. The conclusion was derived from statistical tests in which the relationship between the variables spiritual intelligence (SQ) with variable character learners figures obtained correlation coefficient of 0.69 (strong correlation). (3) The relationship between emotional intelligence (EQ) and spiritual intelligence (SQ) together with the character of the students MTs (MTs) Pesantren Pembangunan Majenang proved to be very strong or very high figures indicate multiple correlation coefficient of 0.73 (very strong correlation). Thus, spiritual intelligence (SQ) and spiritual intelligence (SQ) simultaneously contribute approximately 53% to the character development of students.
